Digital Portfolios

Due: Sunday 28th February
Task: Select examples of your work that you are particularly proud of or demonstrate growth in your learning, or in you as a person.
Requirements:
  • Ensure that you write the requirements of the sample that you selected. This could be the learning objective.
    • In this activity we were learning to using our knowledge of known facts to help us solve new mathematical problems.
  • Make sure that your reflective comment demonstrates your growth as a learner, or as a person.
    • I selected this certificate that I received during Primary Assembly because it shows my commitment towards improving my focus, especially in developing my reading skills and knowledge.
  • Where relevant, include images, videos or links for the viewer.
  • Include 'Label's so that you can later organise your posts.
    • Children's Rights, Poetry, Caring, Independent, Commitment...

Technology - What's Appening? (Year 6A)

Due: Thursday 19th February
Task: Using iMovie, create a video review of your favourite iPad App. This rubric will be able to help provide you areas to talk about when reviewing the app.
Requirements:
  • Include static, audio and video in your iMovie presentation
  • Duration of 30 to 60 seconds
  • Save the video on Google Drive
  • Share your review by creating and printing a QR code
  • Share your review on your blog.

Language - Complete four out of the five activities.
Find examples of the following in a book that you are reading or books that you have read:
  • A descriptive example of character.
  • A descriptive example of setting.
  • Use of dialogue to portray what a characters in feeling.
  • The dilemma within a story.
  • A character with an unusual name.
Write your own descriptive passage to show, not tell.  You can choose anything that you wish to write about, so long as it is appropriate and descriptive.

Show
  1. The house frowned with a wrinkled brow, and inside it creaked with each step, releasing a scent of neglected laundry.

Exhibition Preparation
  • Using your Padlet log in details, create your Exhibition Padlet wall and add your initial ideals to be investigated.
    • What is the big idea?
    • Why is this issue/problem important?
    • Who is need?  Who is this going to benefit?
    • How are you going to solve this issue/problem?

  • Please make sure that you complete the practice spelling and vocab practice test.  You will complete the 'Test Me' spelling and vocab test at school on Thursday.  Remember, there are lots and lots of interesting and engaging activities on Spelling City so make the most of it.
  • For those students who do not have a reliable Internet connection, you can complete your spelling in your notebook every night.

Mathematics and Language
  • Students to complete assigned Mathletics and/or Khan Academy activities or go online to challenge other people from around the globe!
  • Use Explain Everything to create a mathematics tutorial to teach people about a concept that you have been learning about in class. Add some activities for viewers to do at the end of your tutorial so that they can apply what you have just taught them. See Nanami's tutorial that she created as an example.


  • Work on the completion of non-chronological report to be published using Book Creator.  Use our co-created Success Criteria to ensure that all areas have been covered.  If you choose not to use your own pictures make sure that you use Creative Common (CC) image search or Google’s image search tools to select images that can be shared.

  • Write a descriptive passage, no longer than a page about one of these photos.  Remember to include speech and a range a sentences types (simple, compound and complex).  Remember to focus on add description of characters through their actions and interactions with others.  Instead of saying it was windy, how could you show that?

Digital Citizenship
  • Students to access BrainPOP video on Digital Etiquette via Edmodo and complete the quiz.

Edmodo
  • Web Option - Use this guide to create a Parent account to connect to your child’s Edmodo account to see how we are using it in the classroom.  At present we are using Edmodo during Guided Reading and UOI.

Mathematics and Language
  • Using the Explain Everything and Geoboard app to create an explanation about the relationship between 2D and 3D shapes.  You can use the Geoboard app to create a net of a shape to show how 2D & 3D are related.  Language that you could use during your explanation are vertex or vertices, edge(s) & face(s).  Here is some more information and some questions at the bottom of the page that you could do.
  • As this is the first week that you have been able to take the iPads home, create a presentation to show what kind of activities that you have used it for.  How you present this is entirely up to you!  Be creative.
  • Review a animation App from the 'Video Animation' folder on your iPad.  You cannot review the iMovie, Animoto or Green Screen.

Optional Activities
  • Complete assigned mathletics tasks or challenge people from around the world.
  • Continue to work on your Communication project posted on Edmodo.
